First Day at the Sport Rehab Center

It is a good-sized center in Rolla, MO. where three well-trained physical therapists provide a very professional yet friendly services. Head by the owner Mariakey.

I was given a warm welcome mixed with sympathy, since it was not not my first time there ;)

Anyway, I handed a small bag to her. I was told not to open this bag till I get to the rehab center. I did as I was instructed. The bag contained a small Neuromuscular Stimulator where it vibrates to help better circulate the blood around the injured area. "Put it on for 30 minutes and increase the vibration to the maximum comfortable number you can tolerate" , "Repeat for 4 times a day AT LEAST, the more you use this with the ThermoTek machine, the less medication you need." Maria instructed me with common sense face gestures! 'Sure' I replied.

Thirty minutes passed quickly where I kept increasing the vibe frequently, I reached up to 68! this umber means what? I really do not know now, we will figuer it out lately. That was the first day with prmoises of more activites for the upcoming days,,,

Have a good one...

ACL Surgery, Part 2

My wedding anniversary is Jan 23rd, a man cannot find a better day to go through the surgery than the that very date. Anyway back to surgery, I was very worried about the post operation feeling especially the nausea, the crazy pain ... etc.

Early in the morning, I checked myself in and signed on those tremendous amount of paper. "This is to bill the insurance, that to send your medical report, this is to.. and so on and so forth"

The first thing was to dress in this large cheerful gown. The first injection was numbing the area of the IV and then the full sleep effect will follow- Anesthesia!
I told the nurse I will raise my hand high and start to count till I pass out; one... two ... th..ree....
A nurse shouting: 'Marwan, wake up... wake up Marwan'
I was trying hard to ignore her and enjoy the moment of peaceful sleeping but she kept shouting and I completely forgot why I was sleeping on this bed! oh the surgery; 'Excuse me nurse, is the surgery over or not yet?' 'Not yet' she replied with a smile. It went fine, very fine Marwan. Your friend will be here to pick you up.' 'It's over!!' I was just counting the seconds.'

to be continued,,,

After Surgery, Part 1

Welcome to the blog and to my first post ever! I have been thinking about creating a blog for myself but being busy with the school and studies kept pushing the idea forward. However, last Friday I underwent an ACL surgery which means lots of time lying on bed, leg elevated and nothing to do more basically.
The idea of creating a blog resurfaced and I could not find a better time to start in term of time availability or the stuff I need to talk about!
Anyway, before talking about the surgery experience I would like to talk about myself a little bit.
I am a Saudi graduate student studying MBA and IST at Missouri University of Science & Technology at Rolla, MO. I am happily married to my wife for the last five years and looking for tens of years to come with her. We have a four years old daughter, Layan; three years old boy , Abdul Malik; and our newest six months boy Qussai.
My family is everything in my life and without them- literally- my life is nothing.
